FIVE Games that SHOULD have a zombie mode

The 6th of July was a good day for 3 reasons; It was International Kissing Day, Activision announced a Walking Dead FPS…. and it was your birthday! (365/1)

Since then things have felt rather glum. I’m now getting in trouble (again) when I randomly run up to girls kissing them, It’s no longer your birthday AND I’ve realised I don’t actually like Zombie games. Yes I’ve played Left 4 Dead, Left 4 Dead 2, Dead Island, Dead Rising, Dead Rising 2 and almost every other game containing the word ‘Dead’.

The truth is I like my zombies in add-on form.

I absolutely love Treyarch’s zombie mode, and Red Dead Redemption’s Undead Nightmare is probably the most fun I’ve ever had with zombies. But neither were full retail games.

In this post I’m going to highlight 5 games I think could have amazing zombie modes.

5. Company of Heroes 2

We’ve also recently seen the announcement of Company of Heroes 2. For those of you who didn’t play the original CoH basically it’s WW2 RTS with destructible building, Crocodile Shermans (Flame-thrower Tank!) and unit upgrades.

Why would a zombie mode be amazing?

Did you not just read ‘Flame-thrower Tank‘!  Also I would really like to see classic RTS game modes with zombies, like: King Of The Hill, Escort and maybe take on Regicide could work?

No! Just No!

4. Far Cry 3

Love it or hate it Far Cry 2 was one of the most immersive FPS games of this generation. If you get shot in the arm you have to find cover and pull the bullet out with pliers. Granted not many zombies carry guns!

Why would a zombie mode be amazing?

There are so many great reasons, but here’s FIVE:

  1. Beautiful sandbox island,
  2. Your guns can jam, causing extra panic,
  3. Vehicles (although it’s only a handful),
  4. Propagation of fire,

5. Oh and mother-fucking zombie tigers!

3. Assassin’s Creed 3

The Assassin’s Creed games are known for the realistic periods in history, but they are made fun by the fiction. Surely then the story allows for some sort-of  scurvy/leprosy/rabies concoction found in the settlements of the new world?

Why would a zombie mode be amazing?

If I were to write a list of my top three ‘must-haves’ for an enjoyable zombie-apocalypse-game it would go something like:

  • A stunning location,
  • Easy access to rooftops,
  • Awesome melee combat,

Then if I wrote a list of three things I’d probably do A LOT in a real-world zombie-apocalypse:

  • Hide on rooftops,
  • Hide in hay bales,
  • Hide up a tree,

It’s the pairing of these two lists that would make for an amazing zombie mode!

2. SimCity

SimCity already has disasters I just think one of them should be “A vial of undead juice”.

Why would a zombie mode be amazing?

Once selected you simply break it over any area and it will contaminate the first Sim it comes into contact with. After that your job is to contain the outbreak as best as you can with limited Police and Army Units to make road blocks with. Holding off complete annihilation until a vaccine is found, which means you obviously need at least one hospital or universality which is untouched and a handful of survivors.

1. Grand Theft Auto V

I actually think this might happen! With Read Dead Redemption’s Undead Nightmare Rockstar Games showed everyone how to make a good zombie add-on.

Grand Theft Auto 4 was criticised (by some) for not being as fun as previous GTAs. I think most gamers like an extra helping of ridiculous with their openworld titles.

But at the same time we want a believable and gritty campaign. So what’s the answer? Add a zombie mode!

Why would a zombie mode be amazing?

The first thing that springs to mind is the classic horde of zombies and a very low flying helicopter tilted forward just popping their heads off with the rotor blades.

A.K.A. The best part of 28 Weeks Later!

Is it sick that was my very first thought?

If Grand Theft Auto V had a zombie mode what’s the first thing you would want to do? Leave your ideas in the comments below!

Zombie Mode in Sim City is such a cool idea!

Lets do it in Civilization too:

Forget Babarian tribes – lets have cold zombie tribes (Game of Thrones style) in the wild unexplored north and mymmy zombies (Egypt style) in the hot deserty areas.

    And what about Sims?

“Sims 8 – Sims go Zombie”. Has a ring to it, yes?!

And Spore. Build your own Zomie in 3D and have it evolve throgh untold levels of staggering, killing, and devesating.

if in gta V ZM i would gather +1000 zombies attention and would be rolling them in truck 😀 like i do with cops :DD
